Safety and Usage
All Osana products undergo thorough research, development and testing processes. These tests include (but are not limited to) dermatological testing, stability testing, microbiological testing, preservative efficacy testing, heavy metal testing, as well as post-production consumer testing. At no point do our products undergo animal testing.
Osana formulas have been consciously created without ingredients such as sulfates, parabens and phthalates, are dermatologically tested and fully safety compliant. However—as when adding anything new to your routine during pregnancy or breastfeeding—always read the label and check with your doctor if you're unsure.
While our products have been dermatologically tested on adults and shown to be safe, we don’t test them on children and babies, which means we cannot recommend it. Children and babies have a lower tolerance to certain ingredients, and their skin and hair has different needs—so it’s always best to instead use products that are specially formulated for infants.
The shelf life of our products when unopened is 36 months (three years). Once opened they have a shelf life of 12 months. We recommend storing them in a cool spot out of direct sunlight and where possible, avoid opening the pump/lid, so that the formula isn’t exposed to unnecessary air and moisture.
Osana has been designed to be gentle on skin and suitable for most skin types. Our formulas are also dermatologically tested and pH balanced. As with any cosmetic product, we suggest a small patch test first before using our products. If you have a skin condition such as psoriasis or dermatitis, we recommend using products especially tailored to those needs, or as advised by your doctor or dermatologist.
Where possible, store Osana products out of direct sunlight in a cool place. Do not expose the formula to unnecessary air or moisture.
Our products have not been specifically tested for being non-comedogenic, however they have a low risk of pore clogging and are non-irritating.
Some of the ingredients in our formulas are not considered 100% water soluble, however they will easily disperse in water.
Our products are not specifically designed for use with tanning products, but they are gentle and mineral oil free. We recommend trying on a small, discreet area of skin first. Fake tan can take several hours to develop after application, and many spray/topical tan products require several hours to dry after using. Please follow the instructions of your tan product and do not use any body wash or lotion if not advised.

Yes, our formulas contain an amount of functional fragrance (up to 0.5%).
Osana’s proprietary mood-boosting fragrances are primarily made using ingredients extracted from natural sources, but on some occasions utilise synthetic ingredients to ensure superior longevity or achieve a desired aromatic effect. Our functional blend of botanical extracts and synthetic ingredients is used to achieve a scent that is more intense, complex and long-lasting than could be achieved using natural extracts alone. All components of our fragrances have been carefully considered and evaluated for safety and efficacy, according to the findings and recommendations set out by worldwide regulatory agencies such as the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). This ensures that all fragrance components—no matter their origin—are only included in amounts that fall below recommended limits.
Our formulas contain a range of carefully considered botanical extracts, fragrances and other ingredients that are chosen for their efficacy and the benefits to both body and mind. Some of the ingredients included in our formulas are considered allergens, and as such are only included in amounts deemed safe according to International Fragrance Association (IFRA) Standards. The IFRA Standards ban, limit or set criteria for the use of certain ingredients, based on scientific evidence and consumer insights. Any potential allergens are clearly listed on our packaging, as part of our ingredient list. If you are concerned about particular ingredients, we recommend a skin patch test before use. If you have a known allergy to one of the ingredients included in a product, we would advise against use.
Our products may contain ingredients derived from wheat, gluten, corn and/or almond. We utilise the International Nomenclature for Cosmetics Ingredients (INCI) and fully disclose all ingredients on labels. If you have Celiac-Sprue Disease, we recommend that you check with your physician as to whether topical use of grain derivatives may cause symptoms for you.

Our formulas contain a small amount of gluten and as such they are not gluten-free.
Hexyl Cinnamal is not intentionally added to our formulations, but it may be a by-ingredient in some fragrance. In this case, the percentage of hexyl cinnamal would be no higher than 0.01%.
No, our formulas do not contain mineral oils or palm oil.
No, our formulas do not contain parabens.
No, our formulas do not contain paraffins or paraffin wax.
No, our formulas do not contain phthalates.
In place of parabens, we use preservatives such as phenoxyethanol, a highly effective and safe anti-microbial that helps to prevent the growth and reproduction of bacteria, yeast and mould. Phenoxyethanol has been thoroughly assessed by cosmetics bodies around the world and has been found safe to use in small concentrations. The percentage of phenoxyethanol in Osana’s formulations is safely below these limits, as assessed by the CIR (U.S.) and SCCS (Europe).
No, our products do not contain any microbeads.
Our formulas contain sodium chloride, which is a type of salt. However, the amount of sodium chloride in our formulations is low and won't form a high concentration of saline when using, nor should they cause dry skin.
Our products are not silicone-free, as we use dimethicone in our formulas. Dimethicone helps create a physical barrier on the skin and hair to lock in moisture, and also has benefits for the formula itself, including preventing ingredient separation and increasing spread and slip. Dimethicone is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores.

No, our formulas do not contain any sulfates, including SLS/SLES.

Yes, Osana is certified cruelty-free, and we are Leaping Bunny approved by animal protection and advocacy organisation Cruelty Free International. The Leaping Bunny programme is internationally recognisable as the gold standard for cruelty-free beauty, awarding brands that meet criteria across product development, supply chain and distribution. Leaping Bunny approval demonstrates that a company has met and continues to meet the programme's criteria in full.
No, Osana Naturals products do not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
Yes! Our bottles are fully recyclable, including the pump.
Our bottles are made using 20% post-consumer recycled plastic.
Our bottles are made using PET plastic. PET is a lightweight, durable and safe material commonly used to house body and hair care such as ours, and we use a percentage of post-consumer recycled PET that would otherwise go to landfill. Using a durable material such as PET plastic helps prevent unnecessary spillage and breakage, and its lightweight nature means freight emissions are lower compared to that of a heavier material such as glass.

Our products do not contain ingredients that are potentially harmful to reefs (such as oxybenzone, homosalate, octinoxate, cyclopentasiloxane, octisalate, octocrylene or parabens) and therefore are considered reef-safe.
